Sheldon T. Anderson, Chairman 

Sheldon Anderson manages the strategic direction and profitability of the bank. He is widely recognized community leader in South Florida and the former President and CEO of the Southeast Region for the Northern Trust Company, where he was responsible for investment management, trust and estate planning, private and business banking, and financial consulting in Florida and Georgia. Sheldon sits on the Board of Trustees of Baptist Health South Florida, and the Board of Directors of United Way of Miami Dade County, the New World Symphony, The Miami Foundation - Chairman, and the Beacon Council. He also serves on the Board of Trustees at Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart and is a member of the Orange Bowl Committee. 

 

Edward J. Joyce, President

Edward  joined Grove Bank & Trust after a 37-year career at Northern Trust, serving as President of the South Florida region, Chief Fiduciary Officer of the east region, and most recently as Executive Client Advisor. Ed is a long-time community and civic leader. He is the Chair of the Board of Chapman Partnership and past Chair of the American Red Cross of Greater Miami and The Keys. Currently, he serves on the executive committee of Jackson Health Foundation and on the board/committees of Camillus House, Inc., Orange Bowl Committee, and United Way of Miami Dade. 


 

Jose E. Cueto, Chief Executive Officer

Jose E. Cueto is a seasoned banking professional with more than three decades of experience in lending, acquisitions, asset management, and people management. As Chief Executive Officer of Grove Bank & Trust, he leads a group of highly skilled and motivated professionals to strategically grow the bank’s capabilities whilst also building and expanding the organization’s people resources. His civic duties include serving as Chairman of the Florida Bankers Association, a Board Member of Miami’s Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, President of the Center for Financial Training, a Board Member on the Orange Bowl Committee, Director of the Cuban Banking Study Group, the UM Citizens Board, and the Sebastian Strong Foundation.

 

 

Libby Witherspoon, Executive Vice President, Head of Trust and Wealth Management

Libby is charged with the oversight of the Trust & Wealth Management Team. Empowered with over three decades of wealth management experience, Libby leads a group of highly dedicated and talented individuals who provide advice and financial solutions with a relentless commitment to unrivaled excellence. Witherspoon has a lifelong and notable dedication to her community. She is a graduate of Gulliver Prep and has served on its Board of Directors. She is currently a Trustee for the Florida House on Capitol Hill. Her contributions to the American Red Cross are numerous. She is a member of the National Philanthropy Board, the immediate past Board Chair for the Greater Miami and the Keys Chapter, and a longstanding member and past chapter Chair of Miami's Tiffany Circle. Witherspoon holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Miami and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown University.

 

Sonia Canessa-Gonzalez, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

Mrs. Canessa-Gonzalez has over 30 years of experience in Finance and over 20 years within the banking industry; both overseas and in South Florida. After starting her career at the International Trade Desk of a large bank, Mrs. Canessa-Gonzalez found success as a turnaround agent in growing community banks, overseeing system conversions and process overhauls. She served on the board of directors of the South Florida Banking Institute from 2007 through 2018 and currently serves as Treasurer of the Miami Bayside Foundation. Sonia Canessa-Gonzalez received her undergraduate degree in Economics from Universidad de Buenos Aires and a Master of Accounting from Florida International University.
